CHANDIGARH: Panjab University on Saturday stated the chairperson of a branch of library and data sciences, Prof Preeti Mahajan, has withdrawn her resignation a day after tendering it to vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Raj Kumar.
Prof Mahajan had reportedly resigned on Friday, mentioning rude behavior and humiliation via the VC in a recent meeting chaired via him at his office associated with the ongoing admissions.
Issuing a press note on Saturday, the university said, “The depend related to the resignation of Prof Preeti Mahajan has been resolved. She will preserve as the chairperson.”
Prof Mahajan did no longer reply to TOI’s calls and messages to affirm the college’s model.
PU spokesperson said that the university had no longer prevalent Prof Mahajan’s resignation.
The university also rubbished the allegations that any impolite remarks had been made towards her, saying conferences between the VC and the chairpersons were being carried out in a healthful environment.
However, the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) had written to the VC, apprising him of greater such verbal court cases made against him to the affiliation body.
The PUTA requested the VC to convince the professor not to renounce and restrain his language in destiny.
In her letter to the VC, PUTA president Prof Rajesh Gill wrote: “It is very painful to go through the contents of her letter, which mirror the suffering and humiliation skilled through Prof Mahajan inside the presence of numerous other colleagues on your office, in the course of an assembly, due to your feedback directed to her.
